Portrait Pose Prompts: Clear Faces, Visible Hands, Useful Framing
Use specific portrait pose prompts for editorial images, paired scenes, and short AI videos. Includes practical source-photo checks and three original prompts.
A useful pose prompt describes where the body is, what the hands are doing, and how the camera sees the subject. It gives you concrete details to review after generation. It cannot guarantee exact anatomy or preserve every feature of a reference photograph.
Use AI Image for a custom still composition, or start with a more focused page such as AI Photo Booth or Paparazzi-Style Photo.
Describe the pose in three layers
First describe the body: seated or standing, facing the camera or turned slightly, weight centered or shifted to one leg. Then describe the hands with a visible resting point. Finally describe the crop and camera height.
“Confident pose” is open to interpretation. “Standing with weight on the back leg, one hand resting loosely at the side, shoulders turned slightly toward the camera” is easier to evaluate.
Prompt 1: A relaxed editorial portrait
Create an editorial portrait of an adult standing beside a simple studio wall. Turn the shoulders slightly toward the camera, keep the chin level, and let both hands rest naturally at the sides. Use a three-quarter crop with room above the head and around the elbows. Soft side light, realistic skin texture, restrained clothing, no text or logos.
If you add a reference image, state which identity, clothing, or composition should guide the edit. Review those details because the result is a new generation.
Prompt 2: A seated portrait with readable hands
Show the adult subject seated upright on a plain chair, turned slightly toward the window. Both feet rest on the floor. One hand rests open on the thigh and the other lightly touches the chair edge. Keep fingers distinct and wrists natural. Eye-level camera, waist-up framing with both hands visible, soft daylight, no clutter or lettering.
Choose one simple contact point per hand. Several overlapping fingers, accessories, and props make a difficult result harder to judge.
Prompt 3: Two people with separate identities
Compose two adults standing side by side with a comfortable gap. The first reference is the person on the left; the second is the person on the right. Keep both faces at similar scale and their identities distinct. Their shoulders angle slightly toward each other, while their hands remain separate and visible. Stable medium-wide framing, even studio light, no text or logos.
Use AI Image Combiner when you have two separate references. It creates a new composition; it does not paste unchanged faces into a precise layered collage.
Prepare a source for a short video
For a five-second celebration, a clear upper body and visible shoulders give you more useful posture information than a tight face crop. For a flight or transformation, leave room around the full silhouette. For a duo, keep face sizes comparable across the two photographs.
Try Enzo-Inspired Celebration for a short gesture, Broom Riding AI for a fantasy flight, or Smalltown Boy AI for a paired reaction-and-dance scene.
Review the pose as a structure
Check where the shoulder joins the arm, where the wrist meets the hand, and whether each hand has a believable contact point. In a video, repeat the check during the most active moment and at the end.
Do not judge a result only by its face. A strong portrait also needs a readable silhouette, a workable crop, and hands that make sense in the scene.
